I just heard about the death of actor Gary Collins. I had no idea he was a tv host as well, butI do remember him as a top tv actor in the 60s and 70s.
Gary was sidekick to Dale Robertson in the top western series Iron Horse, where Robertson plays a card player who wins a railroad in a poker game. He was also in the early episodes of Roots and played George Adamson in a tv spin off of Born Free. Though I often watch him give a great performance as a Sherif trying to protect the Chinese polulation from violent striking minors in The Quest episode Welcome To America Jade Snow.

He didn't have a great filmography, but I do remember him as the navigator alongside the cockpit crew of Dean Martin and Barry Nelson in AIRPORT.
