I know it sounds far-fetched, but something about her concentration and the 'story' she told in her act reminded me of a woman who was on Anthony Bourdain some time ago who had lost her home and family due to war and occupation, but remained a strong, balanced and caring person even so.

I thought so too! I can't remember the last time I saw anyone really capture the feel and the fun of those old comic actors. There's a bit of Abbott and Costello, and some Allen Jenkins thrown in for good measure. :D

Yes, they even got the "energy" and rapid pacing down, which is the hardest thing to mimic.

It's on TCM later this month and its a classic Professional Tourist. I just loved the chemistry of Sinatra, Hayworth, and Kim Novak ...

The video I posted is made up of clips from several of Miss Hayworth's films. The only one I can think of that also features Sinatra and Novak is Pal Joey, but don't know if there are any clips from that film in the video. I've seen Pal Joey, though, and didn't particularly care for it. I think Sinatra and Novak worked better together in The Man with the Golden Arm. But, I think Miss Hayworth looks great in this video, all of it. :D

I know ... I know ... I have not seen that movie in 40 years and I wished they did Masha! ... :)

I haven't read the whole thread but I skimmed several pages and didn't see this. I thought many of you might be interested in the YouTube "public domain" channel. It's chock full of old films (and TV shows) that have fallen out of copyright. Not just obscure stuff either; there are big name stars of yesteryear featured regularly. Also, it's the whole movie/show, not just clips. I visit it frequently. Anyway, if you haven't seen it, check it out! :)

Thanks, Lomm. It's always great to discover stuff on youtube, though it sometimes disappears way too quickly. I don't think that is as likely to happen to Public Domain films. Do you recommend any particular movies there that you enjoyed?
