Shocking how young Judy Garland was when she died. I guess being that she starred in a movie in the 30s, I always imagined her as "old" when she passed; not as in old aged, but at least in her 50s or 60s. I was born in 1969, and everything that happened before I was born is thought of as ancient history, while stuff from the 70s isn't that long ago.

That's a real bittersweet photo of Clark and Carole.
Mickey Knox told me that when he worked with Gable in ANY NUMBER CAN PLAY, Gable was almost like a shadow on the set. MGM workers said that prior to Lombard's death Gable was a great fraternizer and a lot of fun on the sets of his pictures but that afterwards it was rare to see him even crack a smile.

Stone, I read that after Carole's death that Gable may have suffered a guilt complex. Perhaps Lana Turner, Virginia Grey, etc.?

Yes, Joe, apparently Gable did suffer great guilt after the plane crash - and also because he had talked his press agent Otto Winkler into accompanying Carole on the war bond tour.
