Great Candid of Hayworth on the top photo - I just love this photo ... and the only picture of Hayworth and Novak that I have in living color ... I have bunch of them (with Sinatra) in black and white - but this is the only picture that I have and I've been trying to find more ... but no success at all.

Rita Hayworth's Birthday Today

Earlier this thread - I explained why she is so dreamy ... and these three black and white images of her back in 1946 and 1947 are the best of the best of Rita's dreamy looks that I loved so much. I will resume Pal Joey tomorrow and let you guys feast on these three magnificent images of Rita Hayworth on her birthday.

These three photographs embodied her beauty like no one else to imagined for and believe me these three photos shows how lovely she really is. When I coined 'Dreamlike Gorgeousness" ... these three pictures comes to play and rightly so.

I feel bad not been able to celebrate it the way I wanted it - but I was pre-occupied with alot of other things the past few days and I wanted to share these three gorgeous images of her that truly made the women she really is. I understand that her hair is naturally black and did the hair treatment thing and dyed it red. When she did this - a magical presence is born and the rest of her career took off after her portrayal of Dona Sol in Blood and Sand back in 1941.

From Blood and Sand - 1941 to Pal Joey in 1957 - Rita was given top billing at Columbia Pictures and rightly so as Frank Sinatra said to Harry Cohn - please give Rita Hayworth APEX BILLING - because SHE'S COLUMBIA. ... For 16 years nearly 2 Decades - Rita reigned and very few actresses had the magnitude to control the billing of being top dog in the industry.

So, Happy Birthday to the Love Goddess ... my favorite actress of all time. I got started on the RITA HAYWORTH BANDWAGON ever since I met the Cover Girl Hairdressers in Disneyland and they showed me a old reel of Cover Girl back in 1944 and the rest was history. Cover Girl was the first movie that I saw and I consider it one of the greatest musicals ever made.

Singin in the Rain is Number 1 - Cover Girl is right around the corner. Both of them Starred with Gene Kelly ... WOW.

The first picture on the top is a screen test picture of Rita Hayworth to determine what shade of black nightgown that she supposed to wear in the movie with Burt Lancaster in Separate Tables. It was very important to Director Delbert Mann because of the lighting that he wanted to use in that movie. So, he ordered Rita to don a specific black nylon slip for that picture that I just shared here and once he figured it out - he told a wardrobe assistant to buy this black nightgown below for this movie.

I find this information very interesting indeed. I learned this information last year with a collector friend of mine over lunch.
