Re: *CANDIDS*
Gee, I was a little surprised by the Raquel Welch image, Joe, but then remembered that everything new (in the '60s) was old (even then).
In 1878 "The Temptation of St. Anthony" by Belgian-born Felicien Rops (1933-1898) presented an even more explicit image of a woman on the cross, a motif dealing with sex, death and the human capacity for weirdness that the artist explored more than once. He was an iconoclastic artist who illustrated Baudelaire and other writer's daring poetry, and his visually brilliant form of decadence influenced everyone from Beardsley to Joseph von Sternberg, they say.
You sure got my attention, Mongo, my friend! And you made me think.

Re: *CANDIDS*
As usual, Moira, Thanks for your input which was indeed interesting. I suppose I should have put more thought into my decision to post the image, especially during this holy season.
Since the image didn't cause a big fuss when first printed, I felt it wouldn't cause a stir especially in 2014. But then again religion and politics can cause discomfort at times.
I will therefore delete the image.

Hi Joe,
I was surprised that you deleted poor crusified Raquel; I wasn't offended by the photo and I don't know if anybody else was, unless they PM'ed you...
FYI:
Women were crusified in ancient times also; along with being stoned, hung and beheaded, as well as men.
And thankfully, Raquel is still with us and I think, still looking good...

Thanks, Joe.

Thanks, guys. After giving the matter much thought, I actually deleted the image for me. Amen.

Re: *CANDIDS*
This would have to be my favourite thread. Thank you for all the work you do. As to the deleted picture I thought it was great. Personally I did not consider it to be in bad taste, but I realise that some people may.
Keep up the good work!

Re: *CANDIDS*
Raquel always was and still is a great looker. We should all look that good in our 70s. I know I don't. Whenever I see a great looking grand dame I always wonder what hurts her. Lots of stuff hurts me and I am in my 70s but getting ready to leave them.
