What's odd is that her real name was Jean Marie Donnell. If her bio on IMDb is accurate, she gave herself the nickname of 'Jeff' because she liked the comic strip "Mutt and Jeff".
The wife of theater actor Alfred Drake went by the name of 'Harvey', which was actually her middle name. [Her real first name was Esther.] Go figure.
Hey Joe, besides a happy birthday to my pal Georgie, just want to let you and others know that according to Raft himself, he was born in 1895 and not 1901, which somehow has become accepted.
As proof, take a look at this last TV interview George ever gave, as co-host of the Mike Douglas program. He makes the admission at 6:38, though the whole program is worth watching. Sadly, George passed in November of that year.
Hi Stone. Thanks much for the tape of Mike Douglas, who had a wonderful show with many sterling guest stars. Also glad to know that Mr. Raft had additional years to his life. I will correct his birthday picture to the proper date of his birth.
Joe
Birthday boy and senior citizen Claude Jarman Jr.
CROSS CREEK - It's been 65 years to the month since Claude Jarman Jr. left Florida after starring in "The Yearling." So much has changed since he last saw the woods and springs that novelist Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings wrote about.
Jarman doesn't look much different though, he's taller, of course. The blond mop of hair has turned silver. And there are some crow's feet at his eyes.
