"It's gone, and my boy's gone with it.
But what he stood for will never die.
It was a city of wood, and now it's ashes.
But out of the fire will be coming steel.
You didn't live to see it, my lad...
no more than your father did before you.
God rest the two of you.
But there's Dion left, and his children to come after.
Nothing can lick Chicago, any more than it could lick him.
We O'Learys are a strange tribe.
There's strength in us.
And what we set out to do, we finish."

It's called 'Oasis' something or other, and so we'll move THERE instead!"

NOOOOO! So you're sayin' ALL my wise and profound words that I submitted those eleven or twelve years that I spent on those boards are probably now gone into the ether?!skimpole wrote: ↑February 22nd, 2023, 3:21 amIt doesn't seem to. Archive-Team (who is independent of archive.org) did the archiving at my warning about it going down. Hope it works ok.txfilmfan wrote: ↑February 5th, 2023, 1:58 pm Archive.org is a non-profit organization that attempts to archive the Internet (among other things, like TV). It's independent of TCM, WB or other corporations. The only danger (other than archive.org going defunct, as mentioned) is if TCM/WB-Discovery files a copyright claim, which is unlikely, but still possible. There's little likelihood TCM could derive any monetary value from message board postings.

Yes, and for all his good ideas, he was presented with a special award by none other than Cher, wearing an original Bob Mackie creation.
Re: TCM announces it is sunsetting the TCM Forums
Sorry here Holden, but I'm not sure what you meant by your use of the word "special" here, and considering that Ameche won the competitive Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category that year.HoldenIsHere wrote: ↑February 22nd, 2023, 3:37 pmDargo wrote: ↑February 15th, 2023, 11:20 pm

Wow, I didn't know that Don Ameche won this Award. Still that great voice at 80 years old. He sounds as good then as he was in the Bickersons.

Out of curiousity, which thread? AFAIK everything was backed up (text at least), but I'm not positive that the backup itself is in viewable form on archive.org, or if its in some large files stashed on the website somewhere.skimpole wrote: ↑February 22nd, 2023, 3:21 amIt doesn't seem to. Yeah, that thread works for me, not always smoothly. When I click a page number it takes me to an error page, but if I click the back button on my browser it takes me to the page number I selected. Other times it errors then after some time loading, redirects me to the correct page.skimpole wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2023, 2:53 am"Your favorite performance from 1929 to present are" under Your Favorites. Well RIP to the old site. Wonder how long the channel has left?
