Farther Along by The Byrds- Nov 1971

This is an OK album, better than the last one. It was also the last for this incarnation of the group. The first song is the best, "Tiffany Queen", a Chuck Berry style rocker from McGuinn. "Get Down Your Line" is a forgettable one sung by drummer Gene Parsons. The title song is pretty good, sung by Clarence White. Skip Battin offers up "America's Great National Pastime" an unfunny novelty song and the worst on this collection. McGuinn has a sweet song "Antique Sandy". "Lazy Waters" is a cover song written by Bob Rafkin, sung by Battin but helped by some nice harmonies. The last song is an instrumental with banjo picking by Parsons.

It's interesting that the song "Farther Along" is on THE FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS Burrito Deluxe album from the year before.

I think ex Byrds Chris Hillman and Gram Parsons joined the Flying Burrito Brothers, I never heard their music but will check it out.

It was those two who founded THE FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS. There are only the first two proper albums; after the 2nd HILLMAN fired PARSONS!

I had a friend in college from the UK who was a major Tammy Wynette fan.
His favorite song of hers was "Til I Can Make It On My Own."

It was obvious that Tammy recognized these guys as they likely came to every Tammy Wynette they could.
I did a quick check and the concert was actually in 1989. According to a list of TW concerts she did very few,
maybe because of her various health problems.
