John Fogerty is, Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again.

Great CCR song. Still packs a punch after all these years.

O. V. Wright - Let's Straighten It Out.

This is one of the greatest songs ever to hit wax in the whole history of the universe, past, present, or future. There are other versions of this song, but don't be fooled, this is the real McCoy. Absolute solid gold. This song never fails to bring tears to my eyes. I have no idea who the guy dancing is, but he has superb taste in music.

Aaahhh…Springtime in Chi-Town. 40 degrees. Rain mixed with snow.
Coming back from taking our baby to college (home this weekend for
Orthodox Easter), I drove into a white-out about 60 miles west of Chicago.
So we need to generate some heat.

Founded shortly after Stax Records, Memphis’ Goldwax
Records
was even more downhome…and never as popular. But
Goldwax is a Soul Survivor with these jewels.

JAMES CARR “You’ve Got My Mind Messed Up”

O.V. WRIGHT “That’s How Strong My Love Is”

SPENCER WIGGINS “That’s How Much I Love You”

The OVATIONS “Wonderful To Be in Love”

It’s difficult to have too much JAMES CARR and impossible
to hear too much of “The Dark End of the Street”

On April 29, 1984, this fella was the luckiest guy in the world when,
overcoming all odds, Miss-ChiO-to-be became Mrs. ChiO. This fella
is even luckier twenty-four years later.

The FIVE SATINS “To the Aisle”

The QUIN-TONES “Down the Aisle of Love”

NOEL PAUL STOOKEY “The Wedding Song (There Is Love)”

JOHANN STRAUSS “The Anniversary Waltz”

We were blessed when our wedding guest, SAMMY DAVIS, JR.,
consented to be filmed singing “My Funny Valentine” for our first dance
at our reception, and then followed up with “Chicago” for the home crowd.
It was – and still is – a swingin’ soiree!

Thank you, DJ Dewey, for that mazel tov. And thank you, DJ
Metry_Road, for that great O.V. WRIGHT tune. Soul is always
the way to go. Usually we think Gospel + Blues = Soul, but listen to
some of the Southern Soul singers and know that Country can be
added to the equation. And nobody sings that Country Soul ballad
better than the great PERCY SLEDGE.

“Take Time to Know Her”

“It Tears Me Up”

“Cover Me”

"Warm and Tender Love”

Speaking of “Turn On Your Love Light” and “Magic Potion,” Albert
Hofmann
died yesterday at 102. Could he have ever dreamed –
or hallucinated – about the impact his discovery would have on popular
culture. Regardless of whether one indulged in its use, the world started
to be seen and heard through kaleidoscope eyes and ears. R.I.P.
