Vivien, potentially a lost tv star

Post by stuart.uk »

someone on another thread suggested Marilyn Monroe could have lit up the small screen in the likes of Dallas or Dynasty.

that got me thinking of something i thought of a long time ago, regarding Vivien Leigh as a tv star, had she lived.

i actually think Vivien would have been more suited to the tv dramas coming out of the UK in the 70s compared to America.

an example of this was a series called Justice, a great comeback role for Margaret Lockwood, as a high powered Barrister, still attractive enough to have an active love life. that to me would have been the kind of tv role that would have suited a fit healthy 60-yr-old Vivien down to the ground

i was just thinking as well that instead of Maureen Stapelton, Viv could have played the role of Big Daddy's wife in Laurence Olivier presents Cat On A Hot Tinned Roof oppisite her ex-husband in the late 70s

All I can say is: Thank God, Vivien never worked on TV!!! She will stay forever in our minds as a wonderful theatre and movie actress. 8)
