Hey Mongo,
Is is possible that Cecil B. DeMille is on the left in the photo of Bob Hope & Jane Russell on the set?

Moira, I was wondering about that myself. It could be him considering he worked for Paramount and his film "The Greatest Show on Earth" was released in the same year (1952) as "Son of Paleface" was.

Great pic of sudsy Russell . . stuff like that could have one humming "San Berdoo" all day long!
As bath scenes overall go, I'd rate the one from Son of Paleface as better than Ava's outdoor shower in Mogambo, but not as much fun as Kate Jurado's tin-tub scene from Stay-Away Joe . . about equivalent, I'd say, to Sharon Tate's skylight attack in The Fearless Vampire Killers.

Jeez, Klondike, thanks for that guided tour down your sudsy memory lane. Hope you feel better now that you "came clean" with this catalog of babes and bubbles in the flickers.

Btw, you left out Jean Harlow taking a bath in the tub on the water tower in Red Dust (1932) (the first Mogambo), & Claudette Colbert soaking in asses' milk in that early talkie doozie, The Sign of the Cross (1932) by the man in question, Cecil B. DeMille.

And wasn't it Tina Louise in an outdoor tub in GOD'S LITTLE ACRE? Pretty sure it wasn't Buddy Hackett that caught my eye.

More reactions to your latest run:

1) How precious Deb Kerr looked accepting her honorary Oscar; can it really be that no contemporary performer's stepped up to do a TCM "signature tribute" for her? [Or, hopefully, I've just missed it, maybe?]
2) What in the name of Kamehameha are Bogie & Mayo noshing on? Looks like she's all set with her sangria or whatever, but there's the King of Holmby Hills knuckling into what looks like a an imperial size bowl of macadamia ice-pops!
3) Little tree-ring span between Joanie C & Doug, Jr., I noticed; did she scoop him up at a frat smoker? And which # hubby was he?
4) Nice to see Ms. O'Brien enjoying her life on the far side of her busy "young" career; we share a birthday (along w/ Joan of Arc & MLK, Jr.)!
5) Just me, or does it almost look like our favorite flame-tressed colleen is about ready to serve El Presidente a Milesian knuckle sandwich?!!

Klondike, as usual your reactions to some of the images was a hoot.
I believe that TCM had a 3 film salute to Deborah Kerr after she passed away.
I can't make out whats in that bowl in front of Bogie and Mayo either. At first I thought it was ice cubes.
Doug Fairbanks Jr was Joan Crawford's 2nd husband. I believe that frat look was a sign of the times.
Heaven only knows what those two guys were up to with Marilyn Monroe that evening.

Myrnaloy, thanks for bringing that typo to my attention. It's Farley and not Farey....

I think that Bogart is icing up his sore digits after:
a.) Mayo slammed his hand in the car door...accidentally.
b.) He took a poke at someone he'd been needling a bit too much at the bar and hurt his paw.
c.) He just bet Mayo that he could slip some ice cubes down the collar of Jack Warner, who's seated at the next table with his back to his permanently disgruntled employee.

Good analysis Moira, or d.) could be that Bogie felt compelled to pull a Cagney grapefruit stunt on Mayo. They were, after all, the battling Bogarts.

More great stuff. I'm digging the Dietrich ones because she actually seems human.

I like the Robert Mitchum one, makes him seem like a genuinely cool dude.

And I had no idea Fred Astaire was that bald, wow, he kind of looks like an alien.

Ooh and more Hepburn please(Audrey and Kate).

I agree completely with Myrnaloyisdope about the loveliness of the enchanting Audrey Hepburn.

In the above picture of Joan Crawford, is "The Secret" wardrobe test shown a working title for Possessed (1947)?

Thanks myrnaloy. Mitchum didn't mind being in jail. He said it gave him time to to think and that he slept well.
I also believe that Dietrich was a genuinely caring person. I have more pics of both Hepburn's scheduled.

Moira, the Crawford wardrobe test WAS for the film "Possessed" in which she played the part of Louise as noted.

I've seen that photo of Audrey and Grace Kelly before, but not so closely cropped. I always felt it should have a question printed below it to the effect:

. . . Which is the real princess?

Good question, Anne. It seems that both actresses were like royalty to us.

Thank you, AnnHarding. Glad to hear that you enjoyed that shot.

While looking back at the images I noticed that Ethel Barrymore was having a cigarette with her cup of tea?
And Judy Garland looking distressed could have been coming from a memorial service as Vincent Minnelli was all in black.
