Joe
The stars at Del Mar make me want to hear Bing Crosby singing the jingle for Del Mar. I had it eons ago on a private disc of Der Bingle, now long gone with all the rest of my vinyl.

And how do we know that Jackie & Bill were expecting a photo op @ Del Mar?
Because they're not wearing porkpies & bowling shirts!

Thanks for the Jean and Primo pic. I saved it this time.

And, thanks for the Cecil Beaton shot of Hepburn. I read a lot about him in my Garbo bios. He was supposedly one of the great sought after photographers taking everyone's picture from Queen Elizabeth to American debutantes. I haven't really seen any of his work, so that was a great treat. She looks like some warrior goddess.

I agree. At one time she was considered the most beautiful woman in the world. I read an article once that all of the statues in France, which had all been redone with the face of Brigitte Bardot, were replaced with the face of Deneurve! I wish I knew where I read that. It seems each town in France has a statue in the square representing the country. It might have started out as Joan of Arch, but with Bardot's popularity, they were all replaced with her face. Then, Deneurve came along.

I believe you're referring to "Marianne", the allegorical figure of France. Statues of her are found all over France, including high above Paris' Place de la République. She's featured in Delacroix' famous painting, La Liberté guidant le peuple (trust me, you'd all recognize it). For decades she had anonymous features, but in the 1960's Bardot's features were being used. In the mid-1980's Bardot was replaced by Deneuve. She's since been replaced by a number of other jolies jeunes filles; most recently by Évelyne Thomas (a talk show host).

I'm sorry to say that I've seen another side of La Deneuve, and while I can appreciate her beauty, I'd rather not be at the same dinner table with her.

I can't tell you how many times I've looked over my neighbors fence in hopes of finding Rossano Brazzi there...

Thanks! I knew I had read it somewhere, and it is so nice to be back up by such a credible source, you!

Well, I don't know that side of her. But, I am sure most of our idols had undesireable quirks. Again, that is why I don't read a lot of their bios.
