Joe, I've never seen such a nice, normal photo of Oskar Homolka. With a little eyebrow tweezing, he'd be quite the cover boy. Who'da thunkit?

Judith, since I always imagine Oskar Homolka as Uncle Chris in "I Remember Mama", I too was surprised to find an image of a dapper Mr. Homolka.

Hi Joe,

Congratulations on your anniversary of "Candids" - always a job well done!!!

Happy Birthday Georgie:
That photo of George Hamilton and his brillcreamed hair reminds me:
In 1961, he escorted Mae Murray and I escorted Pola Negri to the Paramount lot for a huge celebration of their stars past & present. There were a lot of old film clips of just about everyone.
George's mother, Ann Spaulding, and my grandmother, Nell, sat behind us. Mae had on white satin gloves and she jokingly ran her hands through Georgie's hair only to have all that goo come off on her gloves. She was quite perturbed and was about to give Georgie 'what for'...
Now, remember Mae & Pola had once been sisters-in-law and Nell laughingly said, "Now Mae, remember we're all just happy families, happy, happy families!!!"...
Fortunately, everybody laughed...

Jane Wyatt!
After all those distinguished roles, little & medium-large, on the big screen & the small, could she ever have foreseen unsuspectingly achieving eternal cult celebrity from a single guest appearance on a 1967 TV drama ?
Quel suprise!

But altogether fitting, Klonny. I always thought Wyatt was much too glamorous to be Mother on Father Knows Best, but she was just right as the wise and elegant Mrs. Sarek on Star Trek. The whole idea of Mrs. Anderson as Mr. Spock's mother is kind of a hoot, anyway, and I just know that Uncle Gene was winking at us on that one.

Thanks, Larry.
The recollection of George Hamilton was a hoot. White gloves, no less.

Re: Mae and George - well, what was she doing with her hands in his hair, anyway? (Don't answer that.)
He sure was handsome in the day, wasn't he? For white bread, I mean.

Thanks for a year of these fun pictures;
They are such a bright spot in my day.

Mongo -- We need a picture (or 3) of the greatest director born on August 12: Samuel Fuller.

I love movies. But don't get me wrong. I hate Hollywood. -- Orson Welles

Happy anniversary! You really make my day.

Love Cagney's pooch..... scrappy, just like him.

I have a secret crush on Oskar Homolka.

Jane Wyatt played one of the scariest characters I have ever seen in a PBS broadcast of Ladies of the Corridor by Dorothy Parker. I'll never forget it... just goes to show you that an actress can be more than her best known role.

Nicely said!
In fact I seem to recall that very observation was made about JW back when her role on "Star Trek" was brand new . . . in reference to her prior familiarity from "Father Knows Best"!
