Just paying their bills in '53!

Six years before Fred Graham chased that giant gila monster across Texas . . .
Five years before Chuck Connors rode into North Fork . . .
Four years before Robert Horton started scouting for a certain Wagon Train . . .
Two years before Keenan Wynn started flippin' burgers in that shack out on 101, or Ralph Meeker clocked in as Mike Hammer . . .
And only one year before William Campbell flew with the High & Mighty . .
They all signed on for a fast/fun/cheesey potboiler with the ominous name: "Code Two".
What a fun little ride this was; as much a promotion piece for the L.A. Police Academy (and peace-time motorcycling), as a crime drama, it managed some serious mileage from a quantity of oneupmanship stunts between the snarling Wynn and blustering, cocky Meeker, with forays into the newlywed woes of moody suburbanite Horton and his bride.
There's even a ring of black market truckers & a secret acid vat!
And how dashing the boys look in their highway patrol jodhpurs!
This was one of those movies always being run on local TV when I was a kid, among others like "Shadow on the Wall", "Johnny Belinda", "Pony Soldier", "Captain January" & "Giant from the Unknown".
Not a great example of any particular genre, but a cool little piece of time and place, with some amusing performances and beat-crazy dialogue.
A fun watch, in any case!
