Lynn the Historian
Say, SSO people, I thought you might like to hear a radio interview that our own Lzcutter conducted with John L. Smith on KNPR in Las Vegas, which you can hear at the link below. The work of Lynn and her co-archivists' ongoing efforts to help compile oral histories and documentary evidence of Nevada history from a variety of sources is quite impressive. Lynn also talks about the book, Las Vegas 1905-1965, NV, which she helped to write with Allen Sandquist and Carey Burke using postcards to document the evolution of the city of Las Vegas and smaller communities over time.
Congratulations, Lynn. You deserve the recognition.

I love Lynns' Las Vegas site. I love Las Vegas so learning its' history entertains me. I check over to the site about once a month to see what has been added. You have to be ready to read though, you can't just look in and check out again.

Alison, please try visiting this link and look for Lynn's name and Postcard History on that page. You should see a hyperlink that will take you to the recording of the interview in several accessible formats:

I hope that helps.

Re: Lynn the Historian
Lynn, I just listened to your interview, and it made me wish I could attend some of those "talks" you mentioned. I don't know if you took public speaking or if you are just blessed with an excellent speaking voice, but listening to you, I was so impressed with your clarity and diction. So many people are hard to understand, when listening without being able to see their lips form the words.
The work you are doing to preserve a piece of history is incredible, and I add my voice to the commendations!

Your voice is so NPR. Smooth, soft and sure. A lovely job.
