America: The Story of Us

Post by mrsl »

.
Is anyone watching this magnificent documentary on the History Channel? Done much like the Civil War doc a few years ago, it's covering quite a lot of information in each two hour segment. Part 1 was basically the discovery of America from the early explorers to the 13 original states. Part 2 was the movement West, part of the North's industrial revolution, and the harm slavery had done. I believe Part 3 will be mainly about the Civil War. It holds a lot of facts and figures, with a little live action, and a lot of voice over on photos of famous people. It offered some information on the Donner party that I had not heard before, and other bits about the pioneers trials and tribulations.

It is on the History Channel at 8:00 p.m. Chicago time, and would probably be good to be copied to keep for future reference if you have a young pre-teen around who will soon be studying our American Heritage (unless they have changed the name of the book).
