I have to add my two cents about the Las Vegas experience. That must be new since I was there, and it's wonderful. I can imagine standing there in person to see it, I'm sure there is a lot of cheering that goes on at the end of that particular exhibition.
The last time I was there, I saw the contemporary music, western music, and the rock and roll, but this is awe inspiring.
Thanks for the show.

Last night I saw Pink Martini perform with the San Francisco Symphony. Pink Martini frontman Thomas Lauderdale told a story about Amado Mio, the song made famous by Rita Hayworth in Gilda. He saw the movie years ago and wanted to put the song on their first album. But he didn't have access to the movie, and at the time didn't have access to the world wide web, so he got ahold of Grace Jones' version of the song. He played it over and over to get the lyrics. Unfortunately, Ms. Jones' diction leaves something to be desired. For example, he thought she sang, "I want you ever", instead of "I won't endeavor". At any rate, the song became a big hit for them (with China Forbes' vocal).
Years later they saw Gilda on the big screen and realized the lyrical errors they'd been making. They recently played in Turkey and Greece, where the enthusastic audiences wanted to sing along. Since they all know the song from the Pink Martini album, they've learned the wrong words. So the band sang it wrong there. But last night they had the words right!
Here's a clip of Gilda singing Amado Mio with the soundtrack provided by Pink Martini:
Thank you, Sandy! I found that "clip" on Photobucket...thought it was probably from some theme park...and the dancing seemed in sync with "My Humps." I do enjoy dancing plush animal videos...

Yowza everybody -- Ol' Dewey's back from a sun-drenched week of holiday hijinks up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, cavorting about in Portland and Seattle. Temps got up into the high 80s and low 90s with permanent abundant sunshine! But I missed Oakland and sure enuf the Record party! Kudos to all the great spin-eroos from the beatific Ben, especially the wonderful tribute to the lamentedly late Beverly Sills and the stirring 4th of July shows of shows! Ditto to CharlieT's magnificent show of passionate patriotism!! And Moraldo--diggity dang, dude--I am a longtime Pink Martini fan and dug your post the most!!
And as my beautiful wife and I roamed around up there we kept hearin' a message that seemed to be coming from more and more Americans right now. It was a message that begs to be heard and seen and it's been percolatin' down along the line for some time now...
