Ahhh, sweet Suzie Oliver.
Starfleet Captain Christopher Pike's only true beloved, and Mr. Spock's ( & "Star Trek" 's) first damsel in distress.
See how just the right one-shot TV role can guarantee immortality?

Director Victor Fleming, Greer Garson and Clark Gable have fun on the set of "Adventure"
Thus inspiring the slogan "Gable's back and Garson's got him!"
[A few months back someone posted on Facebook "Conan's back!" (referring to the return of the television talk show host), to which I replied, "And Garson's got him". No one had any idea what I was talking about. This one of the many reasons I return to the SSO -- to be with "my people".]

Looks like another clever Hollywood race-reassignment, likely thanks to coffe grounds & cheesecloth!

"Chief"! Hey, did anyone see the MGM short subject on poor driving that was shown on TCM yesterday? Was Platt the highway patrolman in it? It was driving me crazy. I kept thinking it was Lloyd Nolan, but no.... so familiar. Now I think it was a young Platt with dark hair. Is this possible?

Moraldo, if you are referring to the very dramatic footage (real and staged) in Traffic With the Devil (1946) that was shown between Coney Island and Mother Wore Tights yesterday, I saw it too. I don't think Ed Platt was in it, though I can see that Sgt. Charles Reineke (a real LA traffic cop back then) did have a resemblance to The Chief. If you'd like to see this short again, it is one of the DVD extras on The Katharine Hepburn Collection (Morning Glory / Undercurrent / Sylvia Scarlett / Without Love / Dragon Seed / The Corn Is Green [1979]) (1933).

Reportedly, Ed Platt didn't appear on film until I Was a Male War Bride (1949), though we both know that IMDb might have missed something along the way. My personal favorite of Mr. Platt's movies was the stark realism he brought to his role as Azor, the High Priest in one of my favorite bad movies, Atlantis, the Lost Continent (1962). That's Ed with the crown!
