Legs On Screen

Post by Uncle Stevie »

I have become fascinated with the claims and display of Lady's legs on the screen. Betty Grable insured her legs for 1 million dollars. So I have been staring at everyone's legs. I am not impressed with my findings. Many famous people have skinny and no shape legs, like Judy Garland. Rita Hayworth is ravishingly beautiful but her legs were long and not very shapely. Grable was good and Ann Miller was good but Ginger R was skinny. Elanore Powell was good as well as Ver Ellen and Cyd Charisse. In my opinion, Cyd Charisse had the best legs of them all.

Here is a list of performers who insured body parts. Some will surprise you.

David Beckham – His legs are insured for $70 million.
Dolly Parton – Insured her breasts for $600,000.
Fred Astaire -Insured his legs for $150,000 – that’s $75,000 each.
Bette Davis – Her waistline was insured for $28,000 – a tidy sum back in the day.
Jamie Lee Curtis – Insured her legs for $2 million.
Rod Stewart – His voice is insured for $6 million.
Bruce Springsteen – His voice is insured for $6 million.
Angie Dickinson – Insured her legs for $1 million.
America Ferrer – Insured her smile for $10 million.
Mariah Carey – Insured her legs for a billion. That’s a lot of bendy straws. I’m surprised though, that she insured her legs and not her voice.
Keith Richards – Insured his hands for $2 million.
Rhianna – Insured her legs for $1 million.
Tom Jones – His chest hair is insured for $7 million. Ok now that’s just sick.
Jimmy Durante – Insured his nose for $50,000.
Michael Flatley – Insured his dancing feet for $39 million.
Heidi Klum – Her legs are insured for $2.2 million.
Tina Turner – Her legs are insured for $3.2 million.
Ken Dodd – His teeth are insured for $7.4 million.
Betty Grable – Insured her legs for $1 million.
Marlene Dietrich – Took out a $1 million policy in case she lost her voice.
David Lee Roth – Took out a million dollar policy against his sperm. No. Really. The insurance was just in case Roth fathered a child and a paternity suit ensured.
Mary Hart – Insured her legs for $1 million.
Merv Hughes – A cricket player with a long trademark mustache, he had his whiskers insured for $317,000.
Egon Ronay – The world-renown food critic insured his taste buds for $400,000.
Brooke Shields – Her legs are insured for an undisclosed amount.

Does that premium cover both [n.p.i], or each one separately?

To what end, if all she stars in anymore are TV ads for German cars & toothpaste?

Odd as it seems some of these make perfect sense. As much as I cannot bear to listen to Springsteen and Jagger without their voices they have little to use in their profession. They need to retire comfortably somewhere. Mariah Carey would seem over-the-top. Yeah, it's over-the-top.

I wonder if those are arbitrary figures or if there is a real appraisal on said equipment? THat would be an interesting line of work.

Other great pins

Shirley Maclaine
Tina Turner
Barbara Stanwyck
Sig Weaver
Vanda Godsell (Who's she I hear you cry. She was the Chairmans wife in Richard Harris This Sporting Life)
Cilla Black

I found this Link with Vanda. She's the unpleasent woman in the scene, but still a stunner

After careful review I think Cyd Charisse had the most perfect legs and we all know she knew what to do with them.

I was watching "A Kiss In The Dark" (1949) with Jane Wyman and David Niven. I was startled that I never noticed the marvelous figure of Jane Wyman before. She had fantastic legs and a beautiful shape to go with them. I don't think she showed them off in too many films but in this one she was perfect and fetching. I was always a Jane Wyman fan for her personna but now I have a new reason to love her.
