Ali, I am so sorry to hear this. They are going to lose good employees with this kind of treatment.

Chocolate AND a good movie will really help.

I've been busy and locked out of SSO for a bit...so have some catching up to do...

Moira, Your new car looks great! I hope you enjoy many happy trips together.

Alison, I hope you are on the right track and continue to get advise that helps. Is is related to one of those complicated auto-immune diseases? I hope the people at your work choke on their own bile. Boo Hiss

otterhere, Loved your story! I just read a chick-lit book that sounded like that exact plot. Now I'll have to remember the title, those all run together in my brain. Feel free to vent about the ridiculous ex anytime. I have so much empathy with your caregiver role and wish you all good things in that journey.

Re: Freaks at work: I work at a public library, so yeah. Including drifters. (Warm room, public restroom.) The neighborhood cop cruises us frequently and I have his number on speed dial. Mostly, I just have to listen to odd-looking socially-challenged people repeat the same story over and over and am glad to do it if I can cheer up someone's day. I always keep an eye out, though. We have a lot of meth-heads in our community and they need watching!

It's always nice to hear from you Birdy.

I'm not sure if it is an auto immune disorder, it's like a virus that never fully goes away and is completely unpredictable, there's no known treatment and the professionals disagree as to how to deal with it, trust me to get a confusing illness

How I find out about this interesting housing complex - is I had a friend of mine visited Montreal Canada last week and he told me in an e-mail to GOOGLE - Habitat 67 - he told me that he had a 1 hour tour of this place and there is something like over 100 families live there in the most outrageous living complex that I ever seen in my life. He took something like 50-100 photographs of this place and I will be seeing them later on when I visit him in Victoria next month.
You can read more about it in the URL below. Totally Unreal ... totally.

We've got an appointment to take Libby back to see the specialist. The doctor phoned me and confirmed they had found an abnormality confirming epilepsy, the rest we find out on Friday.

On the Newtonian side of things, Alison, try to find some solace in the fact that epilepsy is not half the ominous, life-warping disorder it was even 30 years ago.
There are half a dozen prescribable meds for it now, besides just dilantin, some of them 3rd & 4th generation pharmaceuticals, which have proven highly effective for a high percentile of patients, plus dietary & environmental programs to help streamline the challenges for those afflicted.
My niece, Shannon, was diagnosed with epilepsy @ 9 yrs old, and is now in her early 40's, a healthy, active college grad/senior computer systems analyst/single mom.

Alison - I'll be thinking of you, Libby and the rest of your family this week. It's hard to wait for a doctor's appointment like this one, but at least you have some idea of what the problem is and how to get on with things.

If it's any help, I had a friend in college who had epilepsy. She was totally fine the whole time we were there.

Thank you. It could have been so much worse and fingers crossed she hasn't had a fit since Christmas so hopefully it will be manageable and will only last through childhood. Many cope with worse, it's hard when it's your own though.

I'll be also thinking of you and Libby dear Alison. I have a couple of friends who went through a similar ordeal with her girl and it all turned out very well for her. It was something mild and under control. I wish the same to Libby.
