Thank you for the reminder, Joe. Here are a few more images of Lew Ayres during his service in the Second World War, which had a deep impact on his evolving spiritual beliefs and his later views of the war. Lesley's biography explains very well how Ayres' case changed the treatment of conscientious objectors in wartime by setting a legal precedent allowing individuals without a formal religious affiliation to act on their private beliefs as conscientious objectors.

Hi,
Ruby Dee certainly was a beautiful lady. I don't know why she wasn't heralded as were Lena Horne and Dorothy Dandridge as beauties. Perhaps it was because she didn't do as many films as the others??
