Joe,
I am loving your holiday-themed pics and this color image of Robert Taylor and Barbara Stanwyck is startling--they look so young and alive here. (I love the chess figures on Babs' dress too). Thanks for posting these this and every month.
Stone, it most likely had to do with the death of their only son from drug use (Eden and Ansara)
Glad to hear that you are enjoying the yuletide images.
That yuletide zigzag sweater and snow-white beret Ruth dons in your latest photo of her loveliness is charming! She was one of my Mom's favorite actresses.
Barbara and Bob look so adorable together here, and he is so handsome in his uniform. Love that chess print, too, Moira. The colors, Mongo, are mesmerizing, and it's so sweet how she has her hand on his.
You know, it's a funny thing about Boris Karloff. I equate him with Christmas more than any other Hollywood star of his era - and certainly beyond. Not sure if it's because of his wonderful "Grinch" portrayal or something more, but he really seems to epitomize the Spirit of Father Christmas to me. I find I tend to watch Karloff movies more throught the Christmas Season than at any other time throughout the year.
The Oscar which was later placed in the window of the hardware store.
Love the story Jimmy told of when he won the Academy Award and the phone call from his father, in which Pop Stewart said dryly: Ì hear you won some kind of an award.`
