I enjoyed it too, kingrat, I thought Flora Robson was outstanding, as good as I've ever seen her, which is saying quite a lot and she was quite beautiful. Anthony Quayle gave an exceptional performance as well. I love Joan Greenwood, her voiceover was great, she's just gorgeous in those period costumes, and you could feel the doom hanging over these two.

Dear Wendy

The cruise was marvellous - lots of nice people & new friends and plenty of laughs.
Very hot & humid and although we saw way too many Buddhist temples, we all worshipped the god of air-conditioning!!! The blessed cool!!!

Bali has the most beautiful people in the world and the island is a lush paradise.
I have always enjoyed Singapore and love Bangkok, especially the wide, deep river running through the middle...

The colours in these countries is more vibrant and sunrise/sunset is magnificent.

Bali and Tahiti are about the only islands I've ever been interested in actually going to. It sounds wonderful and thrilling, but the heat and humidity I'm sure would wear on me. If I can't tolerate Florida, I doubt I'd make it in Bali... :D

I just feel that now is the time to share my Wild Strawberries experience. In the 1990's, I check out the Wild Strawberries VHS from the local library, and watched it, and for some reason, I had a sort of strange affinity for it. After I watched it, I returned it to the library. About a month later, I was scheduled to play the piano at a wedding for one of my colleagues.

I was for a very unconventional couple. The woman was taller than her husband by about 5-6 inches, and her husband was very short and had a squeaky little voice. They had met at a tiny, local Christian church, and were very respectful of each other.

The night before the wedding, I had a dream all about Wild Strawberries, but it wasn't exactly like the film, but it went from black and white to color, and back to black and white. There were no subtitles in the dream, and it was all in Swedish, but it didn't bother me that I didn't understand it. It was just Swedish, and in the dreamlike state I just accepted it and followed along.

The morning of the wedding, I went to the church with some friends, and did a warm up-on the piano about 30 or so minutes before it was to begin. Then I met the minister. He was on a mission to Texas. FROM SWEDEN. And he was very tall and blond. And he had a huge strawberry-coloured birthmark on his face. And I was so unnerved that I almost wasn't able to play for the wedding. But all went well, and the more I found out about the pastor's mission, the spookier it felt. So after the reception I went home, and I've never watched Wild Strawberries all the way through since that wedding.

Well, the film doesn't spook me, and the wedding wasn't spooky, but having that dream just made me more cognizant of dreams and symbolism in dreams, and so I just use that in my teaching. And it taught me about how to interpret symbols in a way that is effective in my work. But it makes me happy to share that dream because dreams can have such significance in our daily lives. And I haven't purposely avoided the movie, it just seems that way from the story. I had it on DVD and watch pieces of it now and then.

Gosh, that is a surreal experience. Now I'm going to remember it next time I watch Wild Strawberries.
