I hope the storm doesn't effect voter turnout. Regardless of one's personal preference, a good turnout benefits everybody.

I hope so too, Red, this has been my main worry this week. Luckily, there's almost a week of recovery before the election.
Re: 'Round the World Weather Report
For the life of me what I don't understand is... If there's no such thing as global warming...since that all is such a hoax, why are we having such catastrophic weather??
P.S. I stood four hours for TriBeCa Film Festival... I can stand and wait to vote. This election will really effect the course of history...and what strategy really works in politics; what Americans believe.

Try the link shown below instead, JF. Those 'player_embedded' links on youtube don't work outside of their home site unless you can post the entire embed code, which isn't how we have it set up here in the SSO. Sorry about that, gang.

Ahhh! Thanks Moira!
And thanks T!
We are getting those brown-out moments now, every so often, a buzzing and then the lights and TV flicker and surge off and back on again. I expect a black out any time now.
Took Lily for a teeny little walk in the front yard just now, and the wind sounded like a MAC truck going by, only the sound doesn't dissipate like the sound of a truck would, it just keeps blowing. The trees are leaning over sideways, but so far just a few sticks down, one of which my crazy dog wanted to pick up and bring in the house.
DAMN THE TORPEDOES! FULL SPEED AHEAD!

Re: 'Round the World Weather Report
A steady rain and a stiff wind is ours now. Closed the office early. My Maureen provided some free coffee for the local news crews and closed this afternoon. Ocean City, MD is getting pummeled. The long fishing pier near the boardwalk is gone. Some flooding has come to Baltimore and we are beginning to see trees down. So far no power problems in my area but it's still early.

Glad you guys are home Chris! I should go watch the Weather Channel so I can see what's happening in my town... but we are trying to forget our troubles today.
I was just saying to someone else how I like storms (when I'm inside) they are kind of exciting and comforting at the same time. Like Irena Dubrovna, I find them friendly, like the dark. As long as we are tucked up inside.

So far so good here in Manhattan. My office will be closed again tomorrow. Schools, libraries, public transport, etc., will also be closed again tomorrow. If anyone is interested, here is the latest update on the state of the city from Mayor Bloomberg:

There have been some street, tunnel, and bridge closings around town due to flooding and/or high winds.
My favorite breakfast spot was open but not delivering this morning, but I got breakfast delivered from a neighborhood diner. Also ordered sandwiches to have on hand for tonight. Otherwise, I'm just watching movies, checking my work email periodically, and took a good nap this afternoon. I suppose I can get through another day of this all right provided we keep our power and water, which we should not lose unless there would be extensive underground flooding, where our power lines are.
JackFavell, I hope you don't lose power. Good luck to all of us!

I hope everyone is safe and warm and no bad black-outs or flooding disturb you.
Just be prepared and hope for the best...and grab onto the highest object if the water level climbs.

The Bride only recently decided we had had enough news for some time. Finally!

Don't you just love those opening credits? I love any words on screen that melt, run away, or drip blood.
