Lee Patrick was one heck of an actress! I only just this moment discovered she was Elvira Powell! I've seen that movie several times, and never realized it.

Wendy, Lee Patrick also played Bette Davis' friend on board the ship in "Now, Voyager"and "In This Our Life".

Those I remembered! Somehow, I never recognized her in Caged, must have been because she was such a different type. Great actress!

Then again, for years I thought there were two Edmund Lowes. One with a moustache, and one without. So I'm not the brightest bulb in the first place.

I just love the laughing face of the lady behind Dean Martin and John Wayne above. She looks as though she's having a blast too. Thanks for the great pictures today and everyday, Joe.

In contrast to the image of a lovely Cathleen Nesbitt in old age, here is a picture of her youthful self in 1916, when poet Rupert Brooke and she were in love.

Wow, I love this place! She's gorgeous, no wonder he wrote sonnets to her.

The earliest I've seen Cathleen in film is in Pygmalion, as pretty much a dress extra with one line. Apparently his great actress was on stage the night the American audience gave the new Synge play The Playboy of the Western World the raspberry....literally pelting the actors with rotten fruit. She also was in the famous production of Galsworthy's Justice which made John Barrymore's a star of the drama. She introduced him to Blanche Oelrichs, better known as Michael Strange, who became Barrymore's second wife.
