I was just thinking the same thing, red! I was sitting on the couch looking out there at the snow and the ice, and Lily came up to me and snuggled, and I thought, "it doesn't get much better than a warm puppy."

Are you near the areas having the heat wave?
The heat wave is well south of us. Sydney NSW, (about 2800km south) reached an all time record of 45.7 deg (114.26). Here in Far North Queensland the temperature does not vary more than three or four degrees. Down south in (say) Melbourne it may be 20 deg(about 68F) today and 38 deg (100F) tomorrow.
Fires are the big problem during a heat wave. Extensive damage was done in Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales. South East Queensland was also affected.

Poor dear. I've got just what you need:

FRANCES DEE: "What are these?"
CHARLIE RUGGLES: "Underwear."
FRANCES: "These, underwear?"
CHARLIE: "Yes. They're what you wear under."

Oh my gosh, T you look frozen! Better get some of those long johns, it's almost as cold this morning!

I was actually a little frightened walking Lily last night. As the temp went down and the wind came up, the trees were all making these crackling, cracking noises as they blew around in the wind. Nothing was actually falling out of them, no branches or anything, but it sounded like entire limbs were shearing off and falling to the ground and shattering. I don't know if there is a scientific name for it, but it was very eerie.

My bedroom was so cold last night I had to fold my comforter in half to have the deeper coverage, and then wear wools socks to keep the lower bits from freezing.

CineMaven, this is the weather for hat, scarf, and gloves. I couldn't manage without mine. And sunglasses too, to keep the cold wind out of the eyes. :)

Man! You all must be freezing up there!

PT, stay warm!

Maven, the sad little look on your face says it all, even without the sign!

We are back to balmy here after our wonderful 3 weeks when we could wear our coats. We might dip back down into the 60s soon. I have great winter wardrobe, so I wear the different outfits during the one month a year when it "might" get cold.

Maven O'Cinema!

You'd better get to one of those New York taco stands and make sure you get a little extra hot sauce!

I was actually a little frightened walking Lily last night

My problem was this morning. So slick I could barely walk! I stayed on the grass as much as possible. But sooner or later you have to cross a street. And that Sugar...she didn't mind at all! Pranced right along as if nothing was wrong. I kept saying, "Stay! Stay!" She said, "What? A little ice. Get over it!" She did a good job, though. She stopped when I told her to, waited for the green light. "For God's sake. I'm always waiting for these humans!"

An update on the flooding in Queensland.

The ex cyclone has moved further south, flooding towns on the way down. One of my granddaughters, Jaimee, lives at Gladstone, one of the towns to go under So far I have been unable to contact her. A "greater than a 100 year flood event" is expected for Gladstone. The rain is expected to hit Brisbane today.
200 to 400mm is expected over the weekend.Dam floodgates have been opened, and Brisbane is on flood alert. Two years ago my son`s house was flooded. We are hoping that history does not repeat itself. He is especially helpless this time because he is working overseas in Saudi Arabia.

Prayers for you and your family and friends, Fossy.
My niece and her husband just returned to their missionary post in Papua New Guinea. She told me that Cairns is where they go for medical treatment when needed.
