Verily, it is enough to kill a mockingbird, leaving one's romantic spirits feeling cold blooded, regardless how one goes lightly! :x

Well, Judith, after reading his memoirs, I believe Mr. Granger eventually decided that life was simpler when one chose one or the other. That pesky "liking everybody" must be pretty tiresome after awhile. Though maybe we could place his decision at the door of Shelley Winters.

I couldn't locate a decent image of Marie Blake
as Sally in the Dr. Kildare movie series.
As Blossom Rock she was Grandmama on
TVs "The Addams Family"'. She was also
the sister of Jeanette MacDonald.

And I thought it was the door of Arthur Laurents where Farley's decision dwelled...

Did I mention that I enjoyed the hirsuit set of images?

I didn't know that "Blossom" had another name. Did she work under both names?

Yeah, and in one of the few interviews I've seen Granger give, he really did not appreciate Arthur Laurents recounting of their time together. Of course, if Arthur Laurents were more circumspect in his memoir, Original Story: A Memoir of Broadway and Hollywood, that book would have been a lot smaller. But you know, Moraldo, I really like Laurents brutal honesty at times--though I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end! Have you read Laurents recent book, Mainly on Directing: Gypsy, West Side Story and Other Musicals?

Sorry for the interruption of your gloriously entertaining and provocative thread, Mongo!

That's no lie. I wondered when I read Granger's book as to how he really felt, at least in retrospect, about Shelley. His memoirs were rather respectful toward everyone, but I sensed an undercurrent of annoyance on his part with her ham-handed pushiness in trying to engineer a marriage between them.

Two observations:

1) I was stunned to see photo evidence of how much the perennially undervalued Jack Weston did indeed, at one point in his career, bear a striking resemblence to our modern-day up&comer, John C. Reilly!
(Hopefully, JCR's on-going roles will never again reflect his "Mr. Cellophane" number/personna from Chicago.)
2) What a hoot that last pic of Shelley clutching the shell-shocked-looking Mr. Granger is; my thought-ballon suggestion for FG: "I've got to call my agent when I get home!!"
I think by that point , Farley would've gladly opted to switch with Louella, and just kick-back with Gable!

Oh dear, oh dear -- I can remember a time when I could cover them with just my two hands. I also remember an advertisement a while back featuring some skeletal model of the day who covered both her girls with just one of her painfully skinny arms. Sigh
