I'm in Springfield, MO this week, visiting with a childhood friend (we've known each other since Kindergarten). We're about 35 miles north of Branson MO, and Table Rock Lake, which was built in the 30's as a works project. All 9 floodgates have been opened to lower lake levels, the rains have been astounding. The fall colors are gorgeous, even through the mists and rains. The weather in the KC area has changed dramatically, it's barely above 40 all this week....brrrrrrr. Down here in Springfield we're having low 50's with lots of cloudy skys. Fall has "fell"! :D

I heard the radio announcer this morning say that our temperatures this week have been 10 degrees below normal. It is pretty brisk in NYC, temperature in the 40s, and yesterday was a rather raw day, more like November than October. However, it's bright and sunny today, although chilly. We actually got heat this morning, so it must have been below 15 degrees F (that was sarcasm). Thank goodness I got the Super to come up yesterday to fix the windows, whose hardware breaks every single year. We face north, and if there is even the slightest hint of wind, it's freezing in the apartment all day. Facing north is good in the summer, since we don't get any sun until late afternoon, but it's murder in the winter. I was stupid not to consider that fact when I took the apartment. (And forget about keeping houseplants in the windows -- not enough light, and too cold on the windowsills.)

Wonder if we're in for an early winter?

Beautiful this week in Illinois. Sunny...70 degrees...and do you know what that means?
THE 8th PLAGUE OF HELL, that's what that means - asian beetles (they look like ladybugs) flinging themselves so hard at my house it sounded like hail. The sky was full of them and I'll be vacuuming for weeks.
As my mother said, "They're ruining our Indian Summer."
(Should I move to the whiny thread?)
Seriously, they're so bad, you can't enjoy being outside at all.

I hope the rest of you are plague-free.

Stay safe and warm and pray you have power!

I'm missing the snow, never got quite enough to suit me the 7 years I lived in VA. Bay Area weather, well, I have no room for complaints. :D

Our neighborhood has underground lines so we rarely have a problem unless it is an extension from somewhere else. We are stocked with movies and brownies.

Thanks to you both and I'll update if anything comes up.

Chris,

Send some of the brownies and movies my way! No bad weather to report but we may get some rain early in the week.

I just love brownies.

Stay warm and you and the family have a wonderful time watching those movies.

NYC is bracing for a foot of snow to fall between this afternoon and tomorrow morning. I'm so fortunate to have Monday off from work, and am hoping that conditions will be better by Tuesday morning. I'm going to venture out now to run a couple of errands, and then will be in for the duration. My DVDs are ready too! :)

I made it! On my way home the snow started, just flurries right now. I hope everyone gets their errands done and makes it home in time. I feel bad for the people working today. . . .
