Ben Johnson
Re: Ben Johnson
Great pictures from The Train Robbers. Thank you .
Ben and Rod Taylor were great as the couple of old timers happy to follow John Wayne on his quest for gold.

Re: Ben Johnson
Hi, Vienna, I will have more from The Train Robbers soon but today's post is another testimonial from a fan about what a great guy Ben was. ;) He met Ben at a clay shooting event back in 1987 and even had some pictures. I've posted it all on the Ben page so please go over there to read the story and see the photos. http://benjohnsonfanpage.shutterfly.com.
Re: Ben Johnson
Another great picture of Ben and The Duke.
One of these days I intend doing a review of The Train Robbers on my blog, Vienna's Classic Hollywood.

Re: Ben Johnson
TM sent me a link to a post about Matt's Saloon, a popular place in Prescott, Arizona, that's been in business for over 50 years. The cast of Junior Bonner often went there to socialize when not filming. The post includes a tiny pic of Ben, Sam Peckinpah, William Holden and saloon owner Matt Butitta. I have no idea why someone thought William Holden was starring in Junior Bonner! ;) Perhaps it was a joke from the crew. :)

Re: Ben Johnson
More great candids, this time from Ford westerns, today over at the Ben page, so hop on over quick like a bunny. http://benjohnsonfanpage.shutterfly.com
The photos are from a Facebook album of candid shots taken by Essie White, the wife of rancher George White, a leading member of the Moab, Utah community who was instrumental in persuading John Ford to film around Moab. Ford filmed many scenes from his cavalry trilogy and Wagon Master there and Moab has been a popular film location for decades. White's granddaughter, Cricket White Green, has posted Essie's photos in her Facebook album here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 049&type=1
But you can read a little write-up about the White family history and a link to Cricket's company Moab Cowboy Country Off-Road Adventures at the Ben page, so go there first. ;) I'm ready for my Moab Off-Road Adventure! ;)
Harry Carey, Jr. and Ben on the Wagon Master location.

An article in the November 10, 1986 edition of the Prescott (AZ) Daily Courier. The girls' residential center to which Ben donated horses for their equestrian program and that is mentioned in the article is still in operation -- you can read about it here: http://www.mmaaz.com/
