Hello....Thunderclap Newman. I think I read about this song due to the Pete Townshend connection before I
heard. While it was a big hit in the UK, it was much less so here. I really don't recall hearing it on the radio
when it first came out.

After just now checking how high it hit on the American charts, it appears you have a good point here, as it peaked at only #37.

(...and which kind of surprises me here, as I remember hearing it quite a bit on the L.A. Rock radio stations back then)

Hey, and speaking of slightly later first generation British Invasion/one hit wonder bands (at least in the U.S. anyway), how about this little ditty here...

(...kind'a makes ya wonder where Alice Cooper might've gotten his shtick from, doesn't it)

I think I first heard the Thunderclap Newman song on one of those "hip" big city FM stations a little while
after it was released. I do remember Fire when it came out. Pretty good tune. Lord Sutch was another
English act I read about but never heard any of his songs. From the same time period, Desmond Dekker had a
pretty big hit with an early reggae song The Israelites, which some people had trouble understanding
all of the lyrics. Dekker was also at one time a co-worker of Bob Marley's.
