SPOILERS!
Re: SPOILERS!
I think I've got it!
It wouldn't be, 'Second to Last Tango in Paris', would it? Its British title being: 'Penultimate Tango in Paris'.
(...those Brits always inclinded to use all those fancy-schmancy words like that, ya know)

No, sorry. And it's not British. Here's today's hint:Bronxgirl48 wrote: ↑July 4th, 2023, 4:47 pm OH WHAT A LOVELY WAR?
It's British I think, and could Tom Courtenay be in the cast?
The film has been called a masterpiece and appears in the Sight and Sound's Directors list of 100 Greatest Films of all Time. It has also been called irredeemably depraved.
Re: SPOILERS!
This clue gave it away here Swithin, and considering after Googling "Sight and Sound's Directors list of 100 Greatest Films" I soon found the film in question listed within it. The film being (and I must now also say, my, but aren't we being quite esoteric here?)...Swithin wrote: ↑July 4th, 2023, 6:12 pmNo, sorry. And it's not British. Re: SPOILERS!
Right you are, Mr. Dargo. I first saw the film in an art house on 57th Street when it came out. Here's a quote about the film that I agree with entirely, followed by the ending clip of the soldiers dancing. Whether the ending represents hope or the "dance as the summation of carnage" is open to question. Pasolini was brutally murdered after completing the film.Dargo wrote: ↑July 4th, 2023, 6:33 pmThis clue gave it away here Swithin, and considering after Googling "Sight and Sound's Directors list of 100 Greatest Films" I soon found the film in question listed within it. 'Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom'
"Although watching Salò might be one of the most challenging viewing experiences in cinema history, it is definitely worth the time and discomfort. Salò is a beautiful and powerful film that represents true artistry."
And now the thread is yours, Dargo. Give us something equally cheerful!
Re: SPOILERS!
Thanks, Swithin.
This next one here should be fairly easy to figure out.
At the end of the pictute, the protagonist decides to ditch his city life and return to the woman he met and fell in live with out in the sticks.

Re: SPOILERS!
From The Terrace ? Paul Newman leaves Wall Street to be with the woman he loves in rural Pennsylvania
Re: SPOILERS!
Hi Kay!
Nice to see you here. Seems like it's been a while since you've been around. Hope all is well.
(...but sorry, no...the film I'm thinking of here isn't 'From The Terrace', and even though the ending to that one would also fit my stated scenario)

Re: SPOILERS!
Nope, sorry Swithin. The film I'm think of isn't 'Sunrise'.
Next clue:
The protagonist's initial reason for traveling to a more rural location was due to his search of a fugitive criminal.
