Mmmm.mmmm...you're making me hungry with that yummy looking breakfast!

Actually, one of our members here is going to receive a petite packet with some of these stamps on it soon, the first time I've used them. Of course, I didn't use any of Ford's, I'm jealously hording those. :D

Alfred Hitchcock had a stamp issued in 1998.

I wouldn't dream of paying bills online. I'm old fashioned to the point of ridiculous. My mom didn't even use ATM. "I don't trust a machine to handle my money!"

I agree, that's why I didn't marry a banker. :P

April:

"The Searchers" is being shown at a local multiplex on June 27. A friend from church sent me a note and so far there are four or five slated to go.

When researching I found that they show classics every Wednesday. Next week is "Citizen Kane." CA and I get to have the date we never did so many years ago. (I couldn't go but insisted she see it. She cried and loved it.)

Oh, Chris how wonderful! I hope you have a grand evening. That's really brilliant that a multiplex is showing the classics. I've never heard of that before. I'd say I wish I could be there but a third wheel can be a wet blanket on a second date. :D

I envy all the fortunate ones who get to attend the first John Ford Ireland Symposium, which opens tonight with a gala screening of The Iron Horse (in its Irish premier) accompanied by an orchestra conducted by Christopher Calliendo. The guest of honor will be Dan Ford, Ford's grandson and biographer.

The complete line-up of the Symposium can be found here. Several events are sold out already.:

You being there would be better than the movie alone. CA would quite agree.

A very rare John Ford silent has been uploaded to YouTube. The Blue Eagle, made in 1926 for Fox only survives at the Library of Congress in this badly damaged print with some missing sequences (replaced with title cards), however there are some genuinely exciting action scenes and glimpses of the narrative power you'd expect. If only it could be better restored with a little love (and more money) one day. Stars are George O'Brien and Janet Gaynor.

Read more about the challenges to get the film in viewable condition here:
