This is it, folks. Today is the last day to add a list that will affect which 32 Noir films go into the head to head competition. Each will come out shooting through the shadows to so the sole untarnished survivor. The voting match-ups will begin next week.

2. The Killer (Dip Huet Seung Hung) 1989 Jaw-dropping.

3 Sunset Boulevard 1950 When your main character BEGINS the film face down, dead in a pool, that’s noir!

4. Double Indemnity 1944 Has Fred ever been nastier? And then there’s Barbara in a breakout role. You can bet those boys in the Big Valley never talked back to her after watching this!

5. Hard-Boiled (Lat Sau San Taam) 1992 Super-stylized violence where innocent bystanders are just target practice for errant bullets.

6. The Maltese Falcon 1941 Mary Astor, you’re going down!

7. Memento 2000 An amazing piece of film. And the lead character CHOOSES to continue to live in blind hate to give his rudderless life meaning.

8. Laura 1944 I had to go for one romance.

9. L.A. Confidential 1997 Surrounded by rats...with guns!

10. Rififi (Du Rififi Chez Hommes) 1955 First class.

11. The Roaring Twenties 1939 Cagney’s death scene had to slip in there.

12. The Big Sleep 1946 Okay, I just like saying Vivian Sternwood Rutledge when I look at Bacall.

13. Out of the Past 1947 Complicated plot, big payoff.

14. White Heat 1949 Momma’s boy makes bad.

15. D.O.A. 1950 The premise screams noir.

And, maybe about another hundred or so I'd like to add, and that's before breakfast.

You may not consider it your strong suit, but your inclusion of GUN CRAZY proves to me that it is a very strong suit.

Food for thought:

So far there are 138 different films nominated, which means 106 of them will end up face down in some dark, dank alley gutter, uninvited to the dance.

At the moment The Maltese Falcon is the leader in the clubhouse with 11 votes with Double Indemnity (10 votes) trying to stab it in the back. Three shady chartacters have 9 votes each as this threatens to get ugly...early and often!

You have until midnight (Pacific time) to get any additional lists in. Your vote could make the difference in getting one of your favorites invitied to the party!

We could limit nominees only to those films in which both Sterling Hayden and Timothy Carey appear.

More food:

At the moment 36 different movies have at least three votes. This means that any movies that only have one or two votes (there are a lot of quality movies sitting at two votes right now) have no shot. Parting will be such sweet sorrow for fans of those films.

The final tally stands at 20 lists turned in. The final tabulating begins and the polls will open Monday. May the darkest noir win!

Every vote counts towards eliminating 16 of these dark beauties, YOU could be the differnce!

Yay! 13 of my 15 choices earned a spot in the top 30!

While I'm not exactly bowled over that Mildred Pierce didn't make the cut, I am shocked to see that The Third Man wasn't included. Third Man isn't only a great noir, it's among the greatest of films.

Round two starts with the 16 left standing on Monday.

We have a special tie-breaker vote going on RIGHT NOW in the first round forum for the Bestavorite Noir competition. Night and the City and Detour ended in a tie and we must determine a winner today.

Head on over and vote for one of these two films, all previous votes for this match-up have been discarded.
