What a hard-working, criminally underknown lunch-pail actor - did any screen personality ever bring more simple dignity & humanity to a battered OD field jacket, or a GI winter duty-cap, or frayed, fingerless gloves?
I tend to listen more closely to Erdman's words in scenes of group dialogue because he looks like a guy who'd rather be sipping a pilsner down at the Legion after clocking out at his brother-in-law's filling station.
