A repo man spends his life getting into tense situations.

All he wanted to do was... sleep. And for the first time, he wished he were far away. Lost in a deep, vast country where nobody knew him. Somewhere without language, or streets. He dreamed about this place without knowing its name.

Thank you, and happy birthday, Harry Dean.

The grave of today's birthday girl Barbara O'Neil. It doesn't seem fittin' for Scarlet O'Hara's mother to be buried here.

I know that the underrated Barbara O'Neil was a very private person and did not seek the limelight, despite her choice of acting as a career--though the (nearly) unmarked grave reminds me of Charles Bickford's meager resting spot. All I know is that she was a champion tennis player, had been an artist in residence at colleges after her movie career waned, and was ready to go to the beach with a friend when she had a heart attack alone in her home in Cos Cob, CT in 1980. Is that where she is buried, Mongo?

I think she preferred the stage to the movies, though she was identified most often as Mrs. O'Hara in GWTW, I think she may have felt typed by the great nutjobs and neurotics she played in When Tomorrow Comes, All This and Heaven Too, Shining Victory Secret Beyond the Door and Whirlpool (in which she was very good). She had her start with the University Players, who included Henry Fonda, James Stewart, Kent Smith, Margaret Sullavan, Mildred Natwick, and Joshua Logan. Despite Logan's reported bisexuality, he married O'Neil in 1940 and after their union dissolved in part, he wrote in his autobiography, because of their tremendous work schedules and his occasional nervous breakdowns. He married actress Nedda Logan in 1945, who retired from the stage and stood by him for the rest of his life (they died within ten months of each other in 1989). Josh only had good things to say about O'Neil in his memoir. I love spotting her in a cast. She's always good--even when she's bad!
