Professioinal Tourist, I truly enjoyed that lovely photo from How The West Was Won. It's charming. Love how Jimmy Stewart was staring right into the lens, and Debbie Reynolds and Carroll Baker are so cute. AM looks distracted by someone or something, but I loved her performance in that film! "It was his achin' foot that brought us out here!"

It's called Search For Beauty and was released as part of a precode box set a couple of years ago, I think it's also been shown on TCM, I remember being very impressed with those scenes of Buster but the storyline wasn't the best of precodes but it was entertaining enough for the 80 minutes it ran. If I remember Ida Lupino and Anne Sherian are two of the beauties in the movie.

Interesting tidbit about Victor Sen Yung, courtesy of Wikipedia:

In 1972, a Pacific Southwest Airlines plane on which Yung was a passenger was hjiacked. The FBI stormed the plane, and in the ensuing gunfire Sen Yung was shot in the back. He and another wounded passenger survived, but a third passenger and the two hijackers died.

And then, a la Audie Murphy: Victor Sen Yung died under unusual circumstances in his North Hollywood home in 1980. The actor, who ran a small mail-order Chinese pottery business, was creating clayware and curing the items with an oven, and died of natural gas poisoning from a gas leak. His body was found November 10, but he had reportedly been dead at least ten days. Some reports suggested at first that the actor had been murdered, but police ultimately ruled the death accidental.

Kind of a sad birthday remembrance, with the inclusion of the tragic Inger Stevens and the gone-far-too-young Norman Chaney.

So bittersweet to learn of Victor Sen Yung's final moments.

And Inger Stevens and Norman Chaney, both left us much too early.

Well . . . don`t want to be cruel but just to look at Norman Chaney one could guess he wasn`t destined for a long life.

Again from Wikipedia: After leaving the series, Chaney returned to his native Baltimore and attended public school, where he excelled in his studies. He continued to gain weight and eventually topped 300 lb (140 kg), though he never grew beyond 4 ft 7 in (1.4 m). His weight continued to increase, and it was discovered that he had a glandular ailment. In 1935, Chaney underwent treatment for the ailment at Johns Hopkins Hospital; his weight then dropped from over 300 lb (140 kg) to less than 140 lb (64 kg).

Chaney became seriously ill afterward and died on May 29, 1936 at age 21. At the time of his death, Chaney weighed 110 lb (50 kg). He was the first of the regular Our Gang alumni to die and the only one not to live to see the end of the series in 1944.

I've never seen Our Gang but judging from the picture and what you've said Stone the outlook was not good for him. What a shame, today they'd know how to treat him better.
