Kevin Brownlow at Killruddery Silent Film Festival 2009

Post by silentscreen »

I wasn't sure where to post this interview, but since Mr.Brownlow is a silent film expert, I thought this thread would be appropriate. There is a 3rd part, but youtube says the video is no longer available. Very interesting! :) I'm not sure why the youtube part isn't working the way it did before the upgrade. Perhaps I'm not doing something right, but in any case, here are the links.

Hi Brenda,
I was able to connect those links you posted with Kevin Brownlow's interview for you. That youtube tag on the far right of your screen when you are posting needs to be clicked after you highlight the link that you are attempting to post here.

I love his reminiscences about his boyhood introduction to silent movies at that "horrible" school and his later "Irish" connections to the early film industry! Thanks so much for adding these Brownlow links. Part 3 of the interview appears to have been restored on youtube:

Not at all. I find that until I get the hang of technical stuff by playing around with it (and reminding myself that I can't break stuff...for the most part), it all seems awkward and quite daunting. Fortunately, the BBCode software on this site is wonderfully friendly and easy to get used to once one dives in and tries most of it.

I love this entire interview. What a splendid, civilized man and fine spirit Kevin Brownlow is!
