Gee, I'd make some positive comments about the schedule, but I'm afraid TCMWebAdmin would track me down and lock it.

It's okay Patful. You're safe and warm here.

The long arm of the Admin is not going to reach you here. I'm sorry that I don't have a lot of time to comment today, though I will after I have a chance to look over the schedule. I wish you and anyone else would please point out whatever interests you about the month.

Patful - just a word, off topic for one second - I don't think I'll get in trouble if I say BRAVO to you for posting June and July threads..... many of us at TCM city are applauding you today for forging ahead.

I didn't know that June and July were also available. When I put in the usual web address with those dates, I only see those ads for white teeth and Acai berry. Are they located somewhere else?

They aren't there yet... someone over there started sniping every possible schedule thread by posting a couple of months earlier than anyone else, and I wanted to congratulate patful on taking them back. Sorry. I will not say anything else on the subject.

The Mary Astor films on the third look interesting.

Trio of Clarence Brown films early Monday the 10th: The Trail of '98; Navy Blues (with William Haines and Anita Page) and The Son-Daughter (with Ramon Novarro)

Fernando, On Borrowed Time is on Saturday the 22nd.

Jeffrey noted The Big Parade on the 23rd and that's followed by Truffaut's The Story of Adele H. One of Isabele Adjani's very best performances.

DeMille's silent The Squaw Man on prime time at 8 pm Tuesday the 25th. And in the early hours of the 26th there is Griffith's Ramona (1910) starring Mary Pickford and that's followed by a fantastic version of The Last of the Mohicans (1920), directed by Maurice Tournier (and after Tournier was injured, Clarence Brown).

Another silent in prime time on Thursday the 27th, Nanook of the North.

Haven't seen Birdy (1984) in many years, but I remember liking it a lot. It's on the 29th.

And again, Jeffrey noted What Price Glory for Silent Sunday on the 30th.

Nice to see all of the silents, and not just on Sunday nights.

I'm excited to see:

Mary Astor day,

Private Lives

the Ealing evening, including Lavender Hill Mob and a documentary

all the silents - especially the early ones like Ramona and The Squaw Man

The Native American in the movies

but most of all, I am thrilled to see The Rising of the Moon on the schedule

Most of the good ones have been named, but I'll chime in for Night Song (1948), which hasn't shown on TCM for at least six years.

 SATURDAY'S CHILDREN? I'm I missing something here? It must be a later version? There was a Silent by this name and it Starred (Gulp!) Corinne Griffith! If I missed that on the schedule I'll stick my head in the oven!

It was the 1940 film with John Garfield.

It looks like a pretty good month.

I'd like to point out that during the Native American-themed evening of May 6, TCM is running The Outsider (1962), the story of Pima tribesman Ira Hayes, one of the soliders who is featured in the iconic photograph of the flag-raising at Iwo Jima during WWII. Tony Curtis plays Hayes, who was exploited by the media and then summarily dropped, and Curtis does a very good job.

Later that night a short called Duck and Cover (1951), which is what all we 1950s schoolkids did to prevent nuclear bombs from getting us. It's not clear if this short is animated -- the description makes it sound as if it were.

May 11th -- A morning of Miss Marple movies with Margaret Rutherford.

May 14th -- What Price Hollywood? (1932), starring Constance Bennett in a very good early version of A Star is Born, this one also directed by Cukor. I haven't seen it in a long time, but I remember liking it a lot.

May 24th -- A salute to Evelyn Keyes all morning and afternoon.

May 27th -- The TCM programmer is goofing on us again. Here's the daytime lineup: Today We Live, Tomorrow We Live, Wednesday's Child, Saturday's Children, Saturday's Heroes, Sunday Punch, Sunday in New York. (What -- no If This is Tuesday It Must Belgium?)

May 31st -- Clint Eastwood is turning 80, and the entire day is devoted to him, including a documentary at 10:30 PM.
