The Silver Screen Oasis

Here's some info regarding the Eureka release of Metropolis on DVD and Blu-Ray as part of their terrific Masters of Cinema series. Unlike their Murnau Blu-Ray's, I suspect this Blu-ray will be Region 2, locked.
Kino is scheduled to release their Region 1 edition in November, likely with different special features than the Eureka edition.

I remember seeing a very Warholish VHS transcription of Metropolis back in 1980 which featured an "all-new musical score" composed & performed by Freddie Mercury & Queen . . which purportedly was giving way to rabid camps of "loved it!" & "hated it!".
Myself, I thought the score worked reliably well, and lent a little welcome sizzle to the story, though I wasn't necessarily convinced it made for the best possible soundtrack for Lang's intended visions.

It's the Giorgio Morodor version from 1984. The soundtrack featured a lot of 80s music, including Queen, Adam Ant and most importantly, Loverboy.
Not to be missed.

Interesting article in The New York Times about the Metropolis restoration. Near the bottom of the article there is a mention of a few other once thought lost silents found in Buenos Aires, including:
