It is easy when learning English to have trouble differentiating the uses of: "vain" and: "vane". I initially thought she was saying that he is so wishy-washy that he pointed in whatever direction the wind blew.
It reminded me of: "I am but mad north-northwest. When the wind is southerly, I know a hawk from a hand saw."
Alas poor Yorick..ahem..I mean Masha, for yea, there are certainly a hell of a lot of homonyms in thy English Language, isn't there?!
