Well, they certainly don't get any more topical than this one here, eh Masha?! ;)

(...so, are you and Little Fuzzy in the path of the total eclipse?)

It was a very short drive for us to be in an area of totality in 2017. We knew a person who lived there and were able to station ourselves in his back yard. It was rather nice because he was at work and his significant other was a guest of the county and so we had the yard to ourselves.

We could drive to an area of totality but we know no one who lives in a convenient place and so would have to rely on whatever parks or other public areas are open. That does not appeal to us.

It is also that we have a stump which needs to burn before the seasonal period for open burning ends. We had hoped to do that the last two days but the winds have been so strong that it was not safe. Tomorrow is one of the last days of good temperature open to us and so we will be doing that rather than chasing darkness.

We are in an area where we will have a partial eclipse.

Have you experienced a solar eclipse?

I found it to be a unique experience. It was quite easy to understand why people attached so much importance to them as omens.

Only a couple of Annular ones. One back in the early-'90s and when we still resided in L.A., and then again in 2012 and just after we had moved to Sedona.

Of course and then again, there WAS that one time Warren Beatty invited me on his Lear Jet to fly to Nova Scotia to see a total eclipse of the sun, but I had already made other plans and so I had to decline his generous offer.

(...he's so vain otherwise, ya know)

It is easy when learning English to have trouble differentiating the uses of: "vain" and: "vane". I initially thought she was saying that he is so wishy-washy that he pointed in whatever direction the wind blew.

It reminded me of: "I am but mad north-northwest. When the wind is southerly, I know a hawk from a hand saw."
