Cannes Film festival earlier this year
Picture: Triangle of Sadness
Actor: Song Kang-ho, Broker
Actress: Zar Amir-Ebrahimi, Holy Spider

I was impressed by Holy Spider and a bit disappointed by Broker.

Re, the LA Film Critics pick of Bill Nighy as Best Actor for Living: his performance in that film is nothing particularly new. It's the same as almost all of his performances in Brit light comedy. He may have dialled up the quirky quotient for this one and the film is based on Kurosawa's Ikuru so that may have elevated it in the eyes of the critics. Perhaps this will be a precursor to a BAFTA Award nod? I like Bill but this wasn't really a standout for me and the film was a bit boring too. I much preferred him in the Tom Cruise drama, Valkyrie.
