Well, you're more of an optimist than am I.

IMO, either:

A. Creating/Applying a Like Button is equivalent to the Labors of Hercules, or

B. Lomm just doesn't want to do it.

Ooooh...know somethin' WE don't know here, Swithin ol' boy?

I don't know nothin' except that Lomm assured us that a "Like" button would be implemented; and I'm just saying that Valentine's Day would be the perfect time. He's probably arranging a press conference to make the announcement.

Hope you're right!

I'd give all the admins a break. This place is financed and run by volunteers.

EP is right...I DON'T want to do it. However, that has no bearing on the fact that I AM GOING TO DO IT. My weekends are busy right now. That is the ONLY time I have to spend working on this site. When I have some free time, you will find a like button here on SSO, just as I said I would do.

Happy Valentine's Day.

During my brief cameo at a different forum, they have a like button.
One person would frequently like my music posts.
I then felt obligated to like her posts in return.
Another forum has many additions to the like button, including a rather nasty disagree button.
I don’t want a like button. It lets people be lazy and is too Facebook-like.
At the other forum, it took a long time for someone to actually spell out SSO.
I’m typing this on a tablet with one finger, but still spelling everything out.
Predictive text is helpful and sometimes laughable.
A quote from my radio days, “If you’re going to play it, say it.”
Fortunately I never worked Classical radio and mispronounced everything.

Lomm,

Thank you for your candor. Confession is good for the soul, and honesty really is the best policy, IMO.

jimimac71,

Opinions, debates, arguments pro and con on a Like button on the SSO have have been expressed and votes were cast. System Administrator Lomm has assured that a Like button on the SSO will happen. If and when a Like button happens, its use will be strictly voluntary and not mandatory, obligatory, or compulsory.

To wit, you don't want a Like button, don't use it.

I've been here less than a month. I did see there was a poll last year.
I only voice my opinion.
I get that Lomm doesn't want to do it, but will in time.
I looked at the poll. Rather slim pick-ins.
For the sake of argument, if I knew how and had admin privileges, I would take on the task for Lomm.

This forum is open source software. Think Linux. Unlike Windows/Mac, you don't just point and click.
I wonder if TikiSoo knows what to do?
Also, JamesJazzGuitar, based on the TCM forum, is a retired computer programmer.
I think a Linux/Unix skill-set is required. I would only break it.
It would be nice if Lomm had help.
