I also played piano for different solo and ensemble performers, and for a time was the pianist for a large big band. These Francis Poulenc pieces are lovely. I’m happy to be acquainted with some of his works as I had not known of him before. Thank you, Swithin and txfilmfan!

VLADO is perfect, he worked with RAVEL himself and was the original and most insightful of any RAVEL interpreters.

I love this movie and seen it three or four times. This is the second appearance of this scene on this thread where the original music is not used. The first one employed Suite No. 2 by Shostakovitch. The original as I recall was understated and effective because it gradually increased in intensity per the underlying drama occurring at those very moments. This version of the story (2012) may displease some due to a clearly atypical stylistic mode that occurs throughout. As for me, I accept it without reservation. I enthusiastically recommend this movie.

HA! I put together a similar list, although not as long, in order to prove that without realizing it most people are more familiar with classical music than they know or are willing to admit. I'll have to go back and make sure I put that clip in my list of "favorites"
