I was mostly joking when I first posted that, but I'll take a look, though I have
to admit it's not a top of the list thing. Yes, some of the connections are rather
tenuous, but they still are connections. I have to wonder: Bela Lugois~Kevin Bacon.

I'm still working on Bela and Bacon.

Detective Jim, help us out!!
I had to use Peter Lorre again

Bela Lugosi was in You'll Find Out with Peter Lorre
Peter Lorre was in The Raven (1963) with Jack Nicholson
Jack Nicholson was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon

HIGH SOCIETY is coming up next -- I of course will be the only one still insisting you can see Bing's shortened left arm in his "That's Jazz" number, lol.

What follows is the lush but meh THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN. I always enjoy Jean Peters (her versatility is gravely underrated imo) and Dorothy McGuire but this 3-girl romantic formula plot does not really do them justice. And frankly I've never understood Maggie McNamara's appeal.

Detective Jim will solve that one quicker than me!
Me too. That's why he's a detective and I'm still walking a beat. So far the
closest I've came is Tom Hanks and Roger Corman were both in Philadelphia
and Corman directed The Raven with Boris Karloff, who was in a number
of pictures with Lugosi. It's hard to find a one to one connection where one actor
was both in a Tom Hanks movie and a Bela Lugosi movie. Hmmm.

Hey, good going, Andree!

This just popped into my head: Bela Lugosi and Gypsy Rose Lee.

Bronxgirl, it sounds like this is a twist on the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game, but with Bela Lugosi replacing Kevin Bacon as the center of the entertainment universe with an assumption that any movie actor can be linked to Bela Lugosi through their movie appearances in six steps or less.
It's an interesting concept.

As for Gypsy Rose Lee:

Gypsy Rose Lee was in THE TROUBLE WITH ANGELS with Rosalind Russell.
Rosalind Russell was in NIGHT MUST FALL with Robert Montgomery.
Robert Montgomery was in HERE COMES MR. JORDAN with Claude Rains.
Claude Rains was in THE WOLF MAN with Bela Lugosi.

So Gypsy Rose Lee's Lugosi number is 4 (unless anyone can find a shorter path connecting them).

Thank goodness for google. At least Bela Lugosi and Gypsy Rose Lee
are a bit closer in age than Lugosi and Hanks. I just put in Kevin Bacon
for his notoriety for having six degrees of separation. I get flummoxed
after three degrees.

You have at all times the option to do what I do: cheat.

https://oracleofbacon.org/ was designed to determine degrees of separation from: Kevin Bacon but you can insert any two actors you wish and it will return a connection. A: "Find a Different Link" button appears on most results so that you can see other possible connections.

It's certainly a time saver. Sort of like those inflation calculators. From what I can
tell there is no two connection, someone who was in both a Hanks movie and a
Lugosi movie. Not surprising given their age differences.

BUT, that's okay. At least you've admitted it now, anyway. ;)

(...and besides and in the process have found an Algorithm that's actually of some use...and SO unlike those algorithms that NFL head coaches now days use as an excuse to make many of those boneheaded calls to go for it on 4th down and when they shouldn't)
