His brief cameo in "The Muppet Movie."
But of course, "The Jerk."
Not sure what the theme is. Not his birthday.
Don't remember ever seeing "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels."
"Father of the Bride" wasn't even close to being like the original in quality.
That's just me.
No, it's not his birthday (which is in August) so I am not quite sure why they are dedicating a night to him now.... but its still an entertaining night. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was a remake of the 1964 film Bedtime story with Niven and Brando.... except that the ending has an added twist.

The film was intentionally done in B&W and the cameras would dolly back and forth instead of zoom.

I have the DVD of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, but haven't watched it in years. Not a bad movie, but Michael Caine is far superior as an actor to Steve Martin. But then I never really have cared for Martin that much - usually seems more just silly than comic. He was OK in Father of the Bride, but as you noted it was not even close to as good as the original.

So sorry I missed this. I love Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. I must not have checked the tv schedule that night. :(

Even if you had remembered you would not have been able to see it. There was a glitch in the video on TCM that evening so it was replaced with another showing of Carnival Story. TCM has put Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid on WatchTCM as a make-good, but as I recall you do not have the service. :(

It'll be a good test of whether TCM still has its head on straight in terms of its viewers if they reprogram it again in a couple of months to make up for the boo boo. After all, we shouldn't miss this great scene with Fred MacMurray.

Marlene makes it worth watching, but Mel Ferrer is the film's weak link.

Mel Ferrer is usually a film's weak link.
