Not many premieres, but nice to see premieres of two silent films.

I like Robert Mitchum, so I'm looking forward to seeing some of his films that I haven't seen yet.

Psycho (1960)

There was an Irish "street singer" named Margaret Barry who allegedly was Bob Dylan's favorite folk singer, although she referred to him as "awfully smelly."
Barry was quite a character. She told her grandchildren that Robert Mitchum was their grandfather and that he would come to visit them, when he got a break from making Hollywood films.
I'm glad they're showing History Is Made at Night on January 7. It's a fine film. Charles Boyer and Jean Arthur have great chemistry, it's a shame they never made another film together. It's a very stylish film as well.

All the leads have prominent upper bodies; Janet Leigh especially in the opening scene. Joan Crawford with her shoulder pads. King Kong - no explanation required.Dargo wrote: ↑November 24th, 2023, 2:15 pmMy guess: All the leads in 'em have prominent eyebrows???BagelOnAPlate wrote: ↑November 24th, 2023, 1:26 pm I wonder what "Special Theme" these movies all fall under?

The Best Years of Our Lives (Again).
Dargo and his favorite film must have connections.
My favorite movie (Victor/Victoria) was only on once in 2023.
I quickly scrolled through just the titles. It'll do.
TCM needs a random, non-repetitive feature.
Good old Winamp was able to do that.
I may be alone in not caring for themes.
Then again, I don't like sports but it's everywhere.
Just getting the movies to start and end at the right time should be challenging enough.

I see lots of Premieres, most notably a 2023 series: The Power of Film with 4 episodes-
Episode 1:Popular and Memorable
Episode 2:Trapped
Episode 3:Character Relationships
Episode 4:Heroes and Villains
Hope it's intelligent & informative instead of just fans gushing over how "influenced" they are by classic films.

Sounds a bit like a college lecture series. I too hope that it is interesting.
