I have never seen some of the better-known films of this year, like The Last Emperor, Hope and Glory, and Empire of the Sun.

Movie Dialogue of the Year, from Broadcast News:

Producer (sarcastically, to Holly Hunter): It must be wonderful, always being the smartest person in the room.
Holly: No. It's terrible.

Favorites:

Broadcast News
Moonstruck
Babette's Feast
Raising Arizona
The Princess Bride
Black Widow

Stinky the Skunk Award:

I'm not sure of the provenance, but part 1 was generally released as Criminally Insane in 1975. The sequel's original title was Criminally Insane 2, but it was released on video as Crazy Fat Ethel 2.

Barfly
Every time I see that title, instead of "Bar-fly", I read it as "Barf-ly".
Watching until the end.

For 1932

*Hyppolit the Butler (It has a 1932 release date for US and rest of Europe. It is by far my favorite film of this year.)
*Virgins of Bali
*Kriss
*The Mummy
*Red Dust
*Freaks

My tastes tend more towards B movies and foreign fare as you may tell. I have also seen “I was Born But” by Ozu but I didn’t like it very much. It was a melodrama, family film I found boring.

Noteworthy for some aspect of the film:

Las Hurdes, an early mockumentary
Million Dollar Legs for Lyda Roberti and her song
Shanghai Express for Eugene Pallette and Warner Oland on the train
The Son-Daughter for its portrayal of a strong woman
Vampyr for its dreamlike quality
White Zombie for its portrayal of a funeral at the crossroads
