Cute movie. Ginger may, or may not, have been a great actress. But she was loaded with charm! If anything, I like this film better than the musical.

Bundle Of Joy (1956)was remake of Bachelor Mother (1939)which was a remake of Kleine Mutti (Little Mother(1935), an Austrian Film.

Not having seen Little Mother, I cannot comment on it, but I have both Bachelor Mother and Bundle Of Joy in my collection. As always Ginger Rogers was great, but I feel the team of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher were much better than the team of Ginger Rogers and David Niven. Not only were Debbie and Eddie married, but they were new parents as well, which probably contributed to the magnetism which seemed to exist between them.

You meant Debbie and Eddie Fisher .
I love Bachelor Mother. I didn't know there was an earlier version.

Oh gosh, I'll take Ginger and David Niven, myself. I'd love to see the earliest version. Thanks for mentioning it.

Thanks! I posted it after I took the I Love Lucy Test - guess who I am?

I feel it adds the right punctuation to whatever I post. :D

In the lovely STAGE DOOR, Ginger is even more impressive than Hepburn. It's the best acting I've seen her do.

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL (Wes Anderson)

It is the simplest of premises: An imaginary country based on a real country where imaginary things happen based on real things that happen to imaginary people based on real people.

Okay...if you didn't laugh out loud at the trailer, you probably won't enjoy the movie. I laughed out loud.

The movie isn't that laugh-out-loud funny...it's just hilarious.

Although there was one moment where I absolutely lost it laughing: M. Gustave needs to be saved, so he calls on his fellow concierges - a phone tree, if you will. There's M. Ivan (Bill Murray - need I say more?), M. Martin (Bob Balaban - who immediately makes the movie worth seeing), M. Jean and on and on. And M. Chuck. M. Chuck? Yes, M. Chuck (Owen Wilson). What more does one need?

By the way, the mise-en-scene and the miniatures are absolutely incredible. As are the performances.

Of the four of us: Two huge, enthusiastic thumbs up! The other two of us: "It's always good to see a movie with my spouse."

I re-watched NEPTUNE DAUGHTER on TCM this bright and early Sunday Morning - because I just wanted to see this charming musical, drama, comedy, and a charming movie that featured the very lovely ESTHER WILLIAMS - and the debonair of RICARDO MONTALBAN and dandiness of a comedic duo of RED SKELTON and BETTY GARRETT.

Not to mention the good supporting cast of KEENAN WYNN, XAVIER CUGAT, and MEL BLANC who played Pancho.

It was a delightful film and wonderfully done back in 1949.

Trailer ... of this 1949 Film

One of my favorite scenes in this movie ...

I saw "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" today with my son.

I enjoyed it a lot and I left my comments in the Sci-Fi & Fantasy section.
