Trevor Bannister;Mr. Lucas R.I.P

Post by stuart.uk »

I just heard Trever Bannister has died at age 76 of a heart attack on his allotment. Trevor is best known for his role of Mr. Lucas in the sit com, set in a department store Are You Being Served and its movie spin-off. Sadly most of the cast have died, but Frank Thornton (Peacock) Nicholas Smith (Rumpole) and Mike Berry (Spooner) are still living

Trevor had a small non-speaking role as an RAF pilot in Reach For The Sky in 1956, but it's for tv he's best known. He was bin man 'Heavy Breathing' in the sit-com The Dustbin Men, played a dramatic role with fellow AYBS star Wendy Richard in the soap The Newcomers, was a villain in a Roger Moore Saint, but as already stated it's as Mr. Lucas in AYBS he's best known.

Trevor did also joined the cast of Last Of The Summer Wine in its last yrs, joining AYBS actor Frank Thornton

Sad news. Bannister and John Inman had a magical chemistry and really fed off each other on Are You Being Served?.

I hated to hear this news, too. I'll always remember:

Dear Sexy Knickers,

I don't half fancy you. Meet me outside at 5:30 and we'll get it together.
